Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) is believed to have opted for long-term evolution (LTE) technology as the base to launch wireless broadband services, according to news reports.
It expected to roll out the services in the second half of 2012.
Meanwhile, the company has already invited expressions of interest (EoI) for outsourcing its broadband wireless access (BWA) business. The deal would be based on a revenue-sharing arrangement. The winner would have to manage the services and network.
However, it is believed that the EoI document does not discuss the technology to be used. MTNL has also extended the date of submitting bids to January 23, 2012, from January 4, 2012.
Both the technical and commercial bids will be opened the next day.
