MTNL has paid Rs 354.3 million to the government as final dividend for 2007-08, representing 10 per cent of the total dividend for the year. The amount follows an earlier payment of Rs 1.06 billion to the government as 30 per cent interim dividend towards the government’s share in the company. Meanwhile, BSNL, which has contributed more than Rs 140 billion to the government exchequer in the form of dividend and taxes in 2007-08, has paid a dividend of Rs 12 billion to the union government.
