MTNL has invited bids from Indian and multinational companies to set up its communications and IT network infrastructure in Delhi for the Commonwealth Games 2010. The contract is projected to be worth over Rs 4 billion. MTNL intends to have a converged (MPLS-based IP infrastructure) network ?? a dual-layered centrally managed internet (IP) backbone network. Only those companies that have experience in setting up and managing similar facilities at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games or FIFA (football World Cup) in the past 10 years are eligible for bidding.
