Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) is continuing its efforts to expand its presence overseas.

The incumbent, which is facing stiff competition in India, is planning to introduce 3G services in Mauritius, say news reports. The operator will be the third player to offer these services in Mauritius, after Orange Plc and Emtel.

MTNL is also attempting to launch these services in Africa. In so far, though, its attempts have been unsuccessful.

It failed to obtain a mobile licence in Kenya and did not also succeed in purchasing a controlling stake in Telekom Kenya.
