Mahanagar Telephone Nagar Limited (MTNL) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on August 31, 2023, paving the path for operational synergies between the two companies.
The government permitted the first revival package for BSNL in 2019 with an outlay of Rs 690 billion, followed by a second package of Rs 1.64 trillion in July 2022. Further, in June 2023, another Rs 890.47 billion revival plan for BSNL is approved, which includes the allocation of 4G and 5G spectrum through equity infusion.
According to MTNL, the MoU further marks an important step to clear the path for the execution of the decisions made by the cabinet during its meeting on July 27, 2022.
