Motorola has been awarded a contract by Pakistan-based Mobilink to deploy a Wi-Max 802.16e 2005 access network. Under the contract, Motorola will design, deploy and optimise the network, provide integration and support services, and supply indoor and outdoor customer premises equipment. The Wi-Max network will enable Mobilink, which currently offers cellular and data services, to offer high speed broadband and VoIP services to fixed line residential and business subscribers. This is Motorola’s second Wi-Max 802.16e network contract in Pakistan, the first being an end-to-end, countrywide Wi-Max/IMS network contract awarded by Warid Telecom in 2006.
