Motorola, a subsidiary of Lenovo, has started rolling out over-the-air (OTA) updates to its devices for enabling support for 5G non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) networks, with a plan to complete the rollout by the first week of November 2022. According to Motorola, the 5G SA software update is being rolled out for Reliance Jio users, while 5G NSA software update is being rolled out for Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) users, simultaneously, on Motorola devices, thereby enabling consumers to experience seamless 5G across operators.

Motorola 5G smartphones in India have hardware support for 11 to 13 5G bands, including the eight sub-6GHz 5G bands that have been launched in the country. As of now, Jio and Airtel are the only two telcos that have launched their 5G networks in SA and NSA mode, respectively, in key cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Varanasi. Vi, on the other hand, has not disclosed any timeline in this regard.
