Mobile tariffs to rise in the next few months: Sunil Bharti Mittal

Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman, Bharti airtel, has said that mobile tariffs will witness a significant increase over the next few months.

He said that this will be owing to operators attempting to offset lower revenue from rural markets. Prior to this, Bharti airtel, Tata DOCOMO, Vodafone Essar and Reliance Communications had increased their call tariffs.

Mittal added that the Government ought to be liberal and judicious in allocating spectrum. Also, operators, in his opinion, have paid substantial amounts for 2G spectrum.
