According to a report by GlobalData, mobile broadband revenue in the Asia-Pacific region is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.2 per cent from $ 229.6 billion in 2024 to $ 296.2 billion in 2029.

This growth will largely be driven by the increasing availability and uptake of 5G services in various countries. Additionally, mobile user penetration in the region is expected to reach 82.9 per cent by 2029, supported by the expansion of mobile network coverage in underserved areas and promotional offers by operators to attract subscribers.

The report highlighted that in developed parts of Asia, mobile user growth will be modest, with a CAGR of 0.4 per cent, due to market saturation. In contrast, emerging Asian markets are expected to see faster growth in mobile users, driven by affordable handset availability and government initiatives to enhance mobile network coverage.

Further, government-backed efforts to expand 5G networks are expected to further boost the mobile data market in the region. Countries like Taiwan, Singapore, China, South Korea, and Japan are leading in 5G adoption, with Taiwan projected to have 94.6 per cent of its mobile subscribers on 5G by 2029, aided by strong government initiatives promoting the technology.
