The Ministry of Law and Justice has given its approval to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to issue show cause notices to Idea Cellular and Spice for violating rollout obligations, say news reports.

In Idea Cellular?s case, it is believed that the Assistant Solicitor General of India has approved issuing it a show-cause notice for its licence in Punjab. In Spice?s case, it is for the Haryana and the Maharashtra license.

In addition, the Ministry of Law and Justice has also approved levying additional liquidated damages on both the companies.
