US software company Microsoft Corporation has opened its first U mobile communications research laboratory in South Korea.
Microsoft will spend $30 million over the next three years on a lab and hire about 30 engineers, including Microsoft employees and local staff. The laboratory will work with South Korean mobile phone companies to develop services and technology aimed at integrating its mobile operating system into “smartphones”, which combine the features of traditional mobile phones and portable digital assistants.
