Microsoft Corporation has appointed Mark Penn as corporate vice-president, strategic and special projects.

Penn will head an interdisciplinary team and will directly report to Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer, Microsoft Corporation. Penn will lead key consumer initiatives for the company.  Prior to joining Microsoft Corporation Penn was the chief executive officer of public relations firm Burson-Marsteller. At the same time, he was also heading the polling firm Penn Schoen Berland LLC. In the past Penn has also served as consultant to companies such as Ford Motor Company, Merck & Co. Inc., Intel Corp. and McDonald?s.
