Meta has initiated a safety campaign titled ‘Scam se Bacho’ in collaboration with several Indian government bodies, including the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB).

This two-month campaign aims to educate the public on safeguarding against online scams and enhancing digital safety practices.

The launch event took place in New Delhi, where officials emphasised the urgency of combating the increasing incidents of cyber fraud in India. The campaign includes a comprehensive national awareness initiative that will be conducted in nine Indian languages, featuring informative talk shows on Doordarshan and training sessions for law enforcement personnel across the country.

Additionally, Meta is collaborating with Instagram creators to produce content that raises awareness about recognising scams and utilising Meta’s safety tools effectively. The campaign serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of built-in product features such as two-factor authentication, blocking and reporting options, and WhatsApp’s group privacy settings, all designed to help users defend against online threats.
