MeitY working on incentive schemes for semiconductor and display fabrication; rollout expected in six months

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is working on schemes to incentivise global display manufacturers for setting up display and semiconductor fabrication units in the country.

The scheme is expected to come out in the next six months.

According to Ajay Prakash Sawhney, secretary, MeitY, the government has received interest from various global players and is working on schemes and incentives to speed up the process.  To this end, it is talking to the industry about the support required to set up the fabs. The government has also been working on similar initiatives for semiconductor manufacturing.
