As per industry sources, the government has started work on a new project which uses next-generation technology to improve the delivery of citizen services in India. To this end, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is utilising advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve the speed of citizen services in India.

The mission aims to provide various benefits to citizens without them needing to separately apply for each one. The execution of the scheme would allow citizens to reap the benefits that the government is presenting without going through traditional bureaucratic hurdles. these benefits include- automatic renewals and reminders of government-issued documents like passports, driver licenses, etc.

This move by the government falls under the scope of a new project, Digital Government Mission. Reportedly, there are several initiatives already running. This includes initiatives like the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System, BPO Scheme, Digidhan Abhiyaan, National Mission on Education using ICT, etc. In addition, other services like subsidised food grains through ration cards are also being considered under the digital mission programme.

However, while many such government services have been digitised in the past, a common interface to avail all of these services through one platform still does not exist.
