The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is reportedly in the process of outlining an incentive scheme for manufacturing devices such as wearables (smartwatches/fitness trackers), hearables (in-ear wireless hearing devices), drones, virtual/augmented reality and internet of things (IoT) products.
The incentive scheme will be in line with the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme launched for mobile phones and components in 2020.
The scheme is expected to be launched in the coming months.
