Megaport, an Australian network-as-a-service (NaaS) provider, has reportedly entered the Indian market through the acquisition of internet exchange platform, Extreme IX. As part of the acquisition, Megaport would gain access to internet exchange infrastructure in key metros including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune, along with Extreme IX’s operational, technical, sales, finance and leadership teams.

The companies said the integration of Extreme IX’s carrier- and data centre-neutral exchange platform with Megaport’s global software-defined network will enable customers in India and overseas to access expanded capabilities such as cloud connectivity, data centre interconnection, and automated, scalable cross-border networking services.

Further, Extreme IX added that it will continue to operate as a neutral internet exchange, with a focus on improving speed, reliability and affordability of internet connectivity in India.

However, no financial details of the deal have been disclosed.
