Maxis Communications plans to spend RM 2.85 billion till the end of 2009 to expand its 3G network and offer wireless broadband services nationwide. While RM 1.5 billion is intended to expand its 3G network to newer areas in the country, RM 150 million will be used to roll out broadband services. Maxis would finance the expansion, largely using internal funds and a small portion through bank loans. Maxis broadband services will be available on HSDPA, a high speed upgrade of 3G networks. The company is reportedly among the first operators globally to use HSDPA to roll out residential broadband services.
