Mavenir is in an advanced commercial phase of an open radio access network (open RAN) network pilot deployment for Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) utilising the millimeter-wave (mmWave) spectrum band. As part of the deployment, Mavenir, along with Red Hat, is providing a complete, end-to-end cloud-native open RAN system for Vi.
The pilot deployment of the network commenced in September 2023 and it is being used now for live commercial traffic ahead of a large-scale deployment. The pilot marks the first open RAN-compliant deployment into Vi’s network, utilising the N78 and N258 mmWave spectrum bands and B1 supporting non-standalone (NSA) architecture.
Further, Mavenir and Red Hat continue to work with customers and partners to offer one of the strongest open RAN ecosystems currently available.
