GSMA has announced that Mats Granryd, director-general, GSMA, will step down from his role in March 2025.

According to the company, Granryd will take on a new role of special advisor to the board after March 2025.

Granryd joined the GSMA in 2015. The highlights of his 40 years in the telecom industry include the 2G roll-out in India,  the 4G roll-out with significant subscriber growth whilst he was chief executive officer (CEO) of Tele2, digitisation, potential of 5G technology and advent of artificial intelligence (AI).
