Manu Kumar Jain, global vice president and former India head, Xiaomi Group, has quit the company after nine years of association. Jain announced his exit with a social media post, adding that he will be taking some time off before rejoining the Indian startup ecosystem.

Jain has been associated with Xiaomi Group for nine years out of which he spent seven years with Xiaomi India. In a short span of seven years at Xiaomi India, Jain played an instrumental role in the company’s success leading it to be India’s most loved and trusted brand. Jain was one of the earliest employees of Xiaomi India, joining the company after co-founding Jabong. Under Jain, Xiaomi has been the top smartphone brand in India since 2017, with investment from the Tata Group. The company has also been a catalyst for Make in India with 100 per cent of its smartphones and TVs being manufactured locally.
