Malaysian Wi-Max provider Packet One Networks (P1) has placed an order with ZTE for the third phase of its network expansion.

ZTE has been awarded the complete turnkey contract for expanding P1’s 2.3 GHz Wi-Max network in a deal worth $76 million.

The operator’s Wi-Max infrastructure is expected to cover 65 per cent of the country’s population by 2012. ZTE will undertake all works related to network planning and design, equipment supply, network optimisation, etc.
