Loop Mobile has requested the Department of Telecommunications to grant additional time till October 31, 2014 for the operator to comply with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India?s (TRAI) directive of informing the subscribers about discontinuation of its services in the Mumbai circle.
Earlier in September 2014, TRAI had directed Loop Mobile to inform date of closure of its services in Mumbai circle to all subscribers in writing, either by sending an SMS or e-mail by October 10, 2014. Loop Mobile’s licences will expire in November 2014, after which it will not be able to offer telecom services. This is because the company was required to buy spectrum afresh to continue its operations but it did not participate in the auction held in February 2014.
