Local calling rates by MTNL between Delhi and Mumbai may be rolled back

The local dialling facility introduced by MTNL on fixed line phones between Delhi and Mumbai may be rolled back. This is because DoT feels that MTNL’s scheme violates the national numbering plan, which allows local dialling facility only within a short distance charging area or adjoining areas. BSNL has also reportedly opposed MTNL’s group dialling service because MTNL was bypassing its trunk network on the country’s busiest telephone route, leading to possible NLD revenue loss.
