VK Saxena, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, has approved the notification of the right of way (RoW) policy, which is crucial for digitalisation, telephony and smooth rollout of 5G services in Delhi.
32 states and union territories have already notified their RoW policy for underground and overground telecommunications infrastructure, while the government of Delhi decided to formulate a draft policy in January 2020.
Considering the forthcoming G20 Summit and that the rollout of 5G is in the advanced stages, Naresh Kumar, chief secretary of Delhi, directly put up the file for Saxena’s approval since it involved notification under the Indian Telegraph Rules, 1951, which is specifically a matter of the Union list, on November 23, 2022. The policy is expected to be notified shortly.
