As part of the project to automate the process of lawful interception and monitoring of communications like voice, data, SMS and internet, the government has completed the installation of equipment at centralised data centre in Delhi and disaster recovery site Bengaluru. These are housed in the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) campus. The government had approved the progamme in June 2011 and allotted Rs 4 billion for the project.

The government has also completed the installation of interception store and forward server at all the 195 locations of telecom service providers. Further, sites for setting up regional monitoring centres (RMCs) at all 21 locations (except Jammu and Kashmir) have also been finalised. While, civil and electrical works for 14 locations have been completed, for 6 locations the work is on the verge of completion.
