Lava International plans to double its budget for setting up a manufacturing factory in India to Rs 12 billion. The investment will be spread out over a period of three years. The company is in talks with the state governments of Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh for setting-up a manufacturing facility in the country. In addition to establishing a manufacturing unit, Lava International is investing
Rs 0.5 billion in an assembly unit in Noida.
Further, the smartphone maker also plans to double its workforce in the country by adding about 7,000 employees in 2015-16. At present, Lava International employs 6,500 personnel. Going forward, the company also plans to diversify its product portfolio beyond mobile phones and manufacture connected devices such as Smart TVs and wearable watches.
