Lava International has earmarked an amount of Rs 1.50 billion over the next two years for the development of user-interface and proprietary hardware and software. According to the company, the investment will also include the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in India. It added that the investments in the facility will be made through internal accruals. At present, the company assembles its mobile phones at the Noida facility.

Hive is Lava?s proprietary software that allows users to share real-time feedback with other Hive users. The company is planning to add downloadable content, such as wallpapers, themes and games, to its own software application called Edge under Hive.

Meanwhile, the Noida-based mobile handset maker is planning to launch a Xolo sub-brand for exclusive online sales, through its own portal.
