Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has launched free Wi-Fi service for commuters using the metro trains between Aluva to SN junction.
According to KMRL, 4G network is currently being used to provide the Wi-Fi service inside the train which will be upgraded to 5G network once the service is widely available. Meanwhile, keeping the user data privacy in mind, KMRL has taken active steps to protect user credentials so that it is inaccessible to any outside agency.
As per KMRL, the project is being implemented to promote the digital India campaign, in association with Worldshore, a Thiruvananthapuram based company. The guidelines with regard to the usage has shared in all the trains. Commuters can activate the Wi-Fi in their mobile and select “KMRL Free Wi-Fi” from the available networks. Post signing up, commuters will be able to access the free Wi-Fi facility.
