As country head for Cobham Wireless?s operations in India, Kishor Anchlia is responsible for growing the company?s business, improving its customer relationships, developing talent and channelling these resources to capitalise on the opportunities available in the market.
Commenting on the evolving telecom landscape in India, Anchlia says, ?Customer needs for services are driven by newer applications running on smart mobile devices which, in turn, have created a highly competitive telecom services space. Today, operators are looking for technologies that are easily adaptable to change, are scalable, open in architecture and have a low cost of operation.? He believes that the evolution of the telecom sector towards more software-centric services has thrown up many new opportunities for Cobham in software-based network roll-outs. Further, the ability to share network resources among different services can give operators an edge over their peers. Anchlia, therefore, sees an opportunity for the growth of Cobham?s network virtualisation business.
Anchlia has diverse experience of over two decades and is most recognised in the test and measurement industry. His role prior to joining Cobham was to establish the legal entity of US-based Timing and Synchronization Systems in India, where he worked for four years. Setting up the complete business ecosystem and building a team for the company has been one of his most satisfying assignments so far. His longest stint has been at Agilent Technologies, where he headed the telecom vertical and managed its network optimisation and OSS business. Prior to Agilent, he worked with Hewlett-Packard when it began operations in India.
Anchlia holds an engineering degree in electronics and telecom from the Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra. ?My professional learning stems from interactions with professionals as well as practical experiences across the telecom, defence and enterprise market segments,? he says. Learning across verticals has helped him succeed in diverse leadership roles. ?Leadership and an eye for detail have steered me through challenges and helped me achieve my objectives.?
Anchlia likes to spend time with his family ? his wife and two children ? and enjoys playing squash. He has been actively engaged with voluntary work focused on non-violence. He has also been involved in the field of education for 12 years as a managing committee member of DPS, Dwarka.
