Tkyo-based telecom operator KDDI’s profits climbed 44 per cent (April-June 2006) due to rising sales. The company’s net income jumped to $652.2 million in the three months ended June 30 from $452.5 million the previous year. However, the overall earnings are forecasted to slide because of weak fixed line revenues. The company posted a net loss of $35.3 million compared to a net loss of $35.88 million a year earlier.
