The handset manufacturer, Karbonn Mobiles plans to set-up a mobile handset manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. The company has earmarked investment worth Rs 4.5 billion for establishing the manufacturing facility. Karbonn Mobiles plans to manufacture about two million phones a month at the facility.
At present, the handset manufacturer has two assembly units in the country. The two units are located in Bengaluru and Noida. However, with the planned manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, Karbonn Mobiles is looking forward to manufacture its own devices in India thereby paving way for further value addition.
Karbonn Mobiles is currently in talks with a Chinese firm for a joint venture for setting-up the planned manufacturing facility. Going forward, the company will raise funds internally for establishing the factory.
