Karbonn Mobiles plans to establish a manufacturing unit in Chennai. The company will pump in close to Rs 700 million for the same.
Currently, the handset maker?s offerings are manufactured by Foxconn in Taiwan and China, and it also sources a few of its devices from Korea.
According to Sudhir Hasija, chairman, Karbonn Mobiles, 60 per cent of the company?s products will be manufactured at this unit. Going forward, the company aims at making all its products in the country.
Meanwhile, it is believed that the company is currently in preliminary talks with the Tamil Nadu Government.
