Jyotiraditya M Scindia has been appointed as the new telecom minister. He has been allocated the Ministry of Communications portfolio. Additionally, he has also been appointed as the Minister of Development of northeastern region.
Scindia, a former civil aviation minister, has taken over Ashwini Vaishnaw who has been allocated the Information & Broadcasting (I&B) ministry in addition to Railways and Information Technology (IT).
Scindia’s immediate focus is likely to be on improving the overall sector health and the revival of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
