The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) examining alleged irregularities in 2G licence and spectrum allocation has asked the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for the details of the shareholding pattern of 38 telecom firms.
Prior to this, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs had furnished the details of 24 licence holding companies, but the JPC has asked for the details in a different format.
These licence holding companies are subsidiaries of Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL), Vodafone Essar, Aircel, Idea Cellular, Quadrant Televentures, Loop Telecom, Videocon, Unitech Wireless, Etisalat DB, Spice Communications, Shyam Sistema TeleServices Limited, Koshika Telecom and others.
Koshika Telecom had operations in Uttar Pradesh (East) and its licence was terminated by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in 2002 after its failure to comply with licence conditions under the NTP 1999.
JPC has even sought details of the various filings made by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam limited (MTNL).
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has asked DoT to appoint a representative to coordinate with the Registrar of Companies for collecting the various details sought by the JPC.
