Reliance Jio is reportedly planning to launch a cloud personal computer (PC) laptop soon for around Rs 15,000. This is expected to drastically cut the ownership costs. The telco is in talks with manufacturers such as HP, Acer, Lenovo, etc to bring the laptop to the Indian market in the next few months.

The laptop will act as a ‘dumb terminal’ with all the storage and processing on the Jio Cloud, which will further help reduce the cost of ownership from roughly Rs 50,000, while allowing users to access all services.

Meanwhile, according to reports, Jio is holding trials on the HP Chromebook for the proposed cloud PC. The telco is also considering introducing a monthly subscription model for the cloud PC service. The pricing details will be determined at a later stage.
