Jio Platforms has released its financial report for the third quarter (Q3) during the financial year 2021-22. The operator reported a net profit of Rs 37.95 billion, observing a growth of about 9 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y). This growth is mainly attributed to the higher data and voice consumption and growing average revenue per user (ARPU). The gross revenue, as per release, stood at Rs 241.76 billion for the quarter ended December 31, 2021, witnessing a growth of 13.8 per cent on Y-o-Y basis.

Meanwhile, the EBITDA for the operator stood at Rs 100.08 billion ($ 1.3 billion), higher by 18.0 per cent on Y-o-Y basis, with this quarterly EBITDA crossing Rs 100 billion for the first time. Also, the EBITDA margin stood at 48.6 per cent, growing at 500 bps on Y-o-Y basis mainly led by change in IUC regime and ARPU increase in connectivity business.

The average revenue per user (ARPU), a key performance parameter for the telecom business grew sequentially to Rs 151.6 from Rs 143.6 in the previous quarter, owing to the better subscriber mix and recent tariff hike.

Also, the cash profit for the quarter was Rs 87.47 billion ($ 1.2 billion), higher by 14.7 per cent on Y-o-Y basis. The total customer base, for the operator, as on December 31, 2021 was reported to be 421.0 million, with net addition of 10.2 million customers on Y-o-Y basis. Total data traffic, on the other hand, was 23.4 billion GB during the quarter, with massive 47.8 per cent growth on Y-o-Y basis. The total voice traffic was 1.15 trillion minutes during the quarter, growing at 17.9 per cent growth on Y-o-Y basis.
