Reliance Jio has emerged as the top telecom operator in 5G download and upload speeds between the first quarter (Q1) of 2023 and Q2 2023, followed by Bharti Airtel, according to Ookla’s report. Jio outperformed Airtel in 5G mobile network performance, scoring 335.75 to Airtel’s 179.49. Jio 5G users experienced median download speeds of 416.55 Mbps and median upload speeds of 21.20 Mbps, compared to Airtel’s 213.3 Mbps and 19.83 Mbps, respectively.
Meanwhile, the highest download speed recorded by Jio 5G users was 432.97 Mbps in Mumbai, while the highest upload speed was 19.12 Mbps. Airtel 5G users achieved the highest download speed of 269.63 Mbps in Mumbai and the highest upload speed of 30.83 Mbps in Bengaluru.
Furthermore, Jio announced that it has covered the entire country with its True 5G network ahead of the deadline of December 2023. Jio has deployed 85 per cent of the 5G cells in India, adding one 5G cell every 10 seconds.
