As per data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio continued to take a lead in widening its subscribers’ base by big margins to take its total user base to 369.93 million in November 2019.

This has made Reliance Jio the number one telecom operator in India in terms of both subscriber base as well as revenue market share.

The company added 5.6 million mobile subscribers in November 2019. With this growth, Jio has replaced Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) as India’s largest mobile services provider by subscribers.

Further, Jio’s mobile services market share has increased from 30.79 per cent in October 2019 to 32.04 per cent in November 2019.

The company had already become number one in terms of revenue market share in 2019 holding 31.7 per cent share of the industry adjusted gross revenue (AGR) in the April-June quarter of 2019.

Further, Bharti Airtel held 28.35 per cent market share, adding 1.65 million users to take its subscriber base to with 327.30 million in the period. While Vodafone Idea’s market share fell to 29.12 per cent recording a decline of 36.41 million users to stand at  336.25 million subscriber base.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) witnessed an increase in its market share to 10.19 per cent adding 341,722 users during the period to take its total subscriber base to with 117.68 million users.

As per the data, India’s mobile user base, however, fell by 28.81 million subscribers in November 2019 as the increase in the subscriber base at Jio and Bharti Airtel failed to compensate for the subscriber losses at Vodafone Idea.

Further, there were 979.09 million active users in the total wireless subscriber in November 2019. The proportion of active users was around 84.8 per cent of the total wireless subscriber base.

The wireless teledensity in India fell from 89.55 at end October 2019 to 87.29 at the end of November 2019. The urban wireless teledensity fell from 156.83  to 152.92, and rural wireless teledensity declined from 57.91 to 56.40 during the period.
