According to recent data by TRAI, Reliance Jio and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) were the only telcos that registered a year-on-year growth in subscribers base in 2019.

While Jio added 90.9 million customers in 2019 to take its overall base to 371.1 million at the end of December 2019, BSNL’s subscriber as of end December 2019 stood at 127.7 million, recording a YoY growth of 1.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel lost subscribers.

As per TRAI data, Vodafone Idea lost the highest number of subscribers and its subscriber base stood at 333 million at the end of 2019, recording a YoY fall of 20.6 per cent. Likewise, Airtel’s base declined by 3.7 per cent YoY to reach 331.6 million at the end of 2019.
