As per the latest subscriber data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio reported subscriber gains to the tune of 2.94 million in July 2022, taking its total subscription base to 415.9 million, while Bharti Airtel added a modest 0.51 million wireless subscribers, taking its total user base to 363.48 million. However, Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi), in contrast, lost 1.54 million mobile customers in July 2022, thereby shrinking its user base further to 255.1 million.
With regard to market footprint, Jio and Airtel further widened their respective market shares to 36.23 per cent (from 36 per cent in June 2022) and 31.66 per cent (from 31.63 per cent in June 2022), respectively, while Vi’s market share narrowed to 22.22 per cent (from 22.37 per cent in June 2022).
Meanwhile, in July 2022, India’s mobile user base rose marginally by 0.06 per cent to 1.148 billion, from 1.147 billion in June 2022. However, according to the data by TRAI, the overall wireless tele-density decreased marginally to 83.25 per cent in July 2022, from 83.27 per cent in June 2022.
