The three private telecom operators, including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) have collectively deposited Rs 43.5 billion as earnest money deposit (EMD) for the upcoming spectrum auctions.

According to the documents uploaded by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Jio has submitted Rs 30 billion as EMD, the maximum amongst the three telcos. In addition, Airtel has deposited Rs 10.5 billion while Vi has made deposits of Rs 3 billion.

Since Jio has deposited the maximum amount, it has been allocated the highest eligibility points for the upcoming auction. As per details shared by DoT, Jio has been allocated 21,363 eligibility points followed by 7,613 to Airtel and 2,200 to Vi. All three operators can bid in any band in any service area depending on the eligibility points and spectrum caps.
