As per the latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio added 1.7 million wireless subscribers in October 2021, taking up its gross user base to 426.59 million.
Meanwhile, Airtel lost 0.48 million customers dragging its gross user base to 353.97 million subscribers and Vi lost 0.96 million customers to close the month at 269.02 million gross subscribers.
Also, there has been an overall increase in the mobile user base, witnessing an increase of 0.27 million in October 2021.
The wireless market data showed Airtel widening its customer market shares to 30.35 per cent (from 30.04 per cent) while Vi saw a marginal dip of 23.07 per cent (from 23.15 per cent) in October. Jio gathered highest market share at 36.58 per cent (from 36.43 per cent).
In the rural markets, Airtel gained 0.83 million mobile subscribers while Vi lost 0.69 million customers. Jio saw a marginal uptick in rural additions by 0.61 million mostly on the account of launch of its 4G smartphone built with Google, JioPhone Next.
