According to latest data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio added 649,000 mobile users in August 2021. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel added 138,000 users and Vodafone Idea lost 833,000 subscribers during the period under consideration.

As of present, Reliance Jio’s mobile base stands at 443.8 million, that of Bharti Airtel’s is 354.1 million and Vodafone Idea’s is 271 million.

In July 2021, Reliance Jio gained 6.5 million subscribers, while Bharti Airtel added 1.9 million customers during the month. As per TRAI data, Jio’s subscriber base stood at 443.2 million in July 2021 and Airtel’s total wireless subscriber count rose to 354 million during the period under consideration. On the other hand, Vi lost 1.4 million wireless users during July, as its subscriber count slipped to 271.9 million.

In terms of market share, as of July 2021, Reliance Jio had 37.34 per cent wireless market share, Bharti Airtel stood at 29.83 per cent and Vodafone Idea had 22.91 per cent market share.

According to data shared by the TRAI, the overall wireless subscriber base also fell to 1,186.72 million in August 2021 from 1,186.84 million in July due to the muted numbers.

As far as 4G subscribers are concerned, 4.4 million new subscribers were added by Airtel in August 2021. Vi, however, lost 450,000 4G subscribers.

In terms of wireless broadband users, Jio’s base stood at 443.86 million, followed by Bharti at 202.27 million, Vodafone Idea at 123.52 million. The MNP requests have also been consistently high for the past few months. The MNP requests stood at 11.28 million in August 2021.
