Jiangsu Sterlite Tongguang Fiber Corporation Limited (JSTFCL) has started manufacturing optical fibre from its unit in Haimen, Jiangsu Province in China.
JSTFCL, a joint venture between Sterlite Technologies Limited and Jiangsu Tongguang Communication Corporation Limited (TGCI) was established in 2010. The company was formed to manufacture, market and distribute optical fiber. JSTFCL has established its greenfield factory with an investment of around $25 million. The company is looking at tapping business opportunities in China which has an annual demand of optical fibre of 100 million km.
Commenting on the future of the joint venture, Pravin Agarwal, whole-time director, Sterlite Technologies Limited, says, ?This joint venture leverages the strengths of the two companies to offer high quality and competitive optical fiber to our Chinese customers. Additionally, it strategically positions both the companies for global growth in the telecommunications segment.?
