Japan’s NTT DoCoMo has acquired 35 per cent stake in PacketVideo, a subsidiary of NextWave Wireless, for $45.5 million.

Japan’s NTT DoCoMo has acquired 35 per cent stake in PacketVideo, a subsidiary of NextWave Wireless, for $45.5 million. The deal is likely to strengthen NTT DoCoMo’s music and video services portfolio as the operator tries to improve its market shares in the highly competitive market. Meanwhile, the company is planning to launch next-generation LTE services by December 2010 and has contracted Alcatel-Lucent to build the required mobile backhaul network.
