The Ministry of Finance?s note on the 2G auction will reportedly be examined by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) in its hearing scheduled for next week.

The note was sent to the Prime Minister?s office and had stated that P. Chidambaram, who was the Minister of Finance at the time, could have ensured that the 2G issue did not arise at all.

The JPC plans to examine R.S. Gujaral, secretary, Ministry of Finance at its next hearing.

Prior to this, the JPC had questioned R. Gopalan, secretary, Economic Affairs and Gujaral on October 31, 2011, asking them to explain why the note was not given to the Committee.

Gopalan had allegedly told the Committee that the note contained no new information, as it was a post facto compilation of documents on the 2G issue.

Further, it is believed that J.S. Sarma, former secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will appear before the committee on January 12, 2012.
