The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has appointed Kishore Babu as the area representative for South­east Asia and Timor-Leste, Indonesia. Babu is deputy director general (DDG) – R&D, innovation and standards, the De­partment of Telecommunications (DoT). He started his career as deputy general manager (enterprise telecom services) at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited in October 2004 and has since worked in the Ministry of Communications in various capacities. Babu comes with over 30 years of experience in various leadership positions, including telecommunication policies, international relations, development programmes and projects, stakeholder engagement with both national and international entities, and public sector functions.
