ITI fails to attract bidders The loss-making ITI Limited has failed to receive bids for three of its six production units that were put on sale by the union government. The possible reasons for the lack of interest include insufficient clarity regarding the government’s decision to award 30 per cent of all equipment orders from BSNL and MTNL to ITI. This reservation did not apply to BSNL’s last tender for 93 million GSM lines, leading to confusion among potential bidders. Moreover, the government has failed to take any significant step to reduce the PSU’s employee strength, which is crucial for the company to break even.
