
According to Gartner, spending on IT products and services in the APAC region is forecast to increase from $727 billion in 2013 to $933 billion by 2017.
Peter Sondergaard, senior vice-president and global head, research, Gartner, says, ?With the growing need for IT tools, the world will move towards digital industrial economy which will be based on the Nexus of Forces (an integration of cloud, social collaboration, mobile and information) and the Internet of Everything by bringing together the physical world and the virtual.?
Global spending on IT services and telecom services is expected to reach $29.7 billion and $26.9 billion by 2014, respectively. Meanwhile the spending on mobile devices is forecast to decline from $4 billion in 2013 to $3.7 billion in 2014.
Within APAC, IT spending in China is forecast to grow at 6.7 per cent and 8.7 per cent in 2013 and 2014, respectively. Consumer and enterprise market will drive growth for IT led solutions in China. In Australia, IT spending is expected to increase from $75.5 billion in 2013 to $77.2 billion in 2014 witnessing a growth of 2.3 per cent. Further, in Australia, software segment will account for the largest share of IT spending. Gartner expects IT spending in software segment in the country to increase from $7.1 billion in 2013 to $7.6 billion in 2014.
Worldwide the key industries driving the demand for IT-based solutions include health, banking, government, telecom and manufacturing.
